Do I need a referral to attend?
A referral to see a psychologist at InPsync Psychology is not required.
What is the cost of counselling?
To find out more about our fees please phone us on 1300 019 230. Please note that you may be entitled to a Medicare rebate or Health fund rebate (see below).
Are there rebates for consultations?
Some psychological services are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $124.50 per session under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme. This rebate applies to services that have been referred for by your GP, whereby they have assessed that there is a significant mental health difficulty and where there is a Mental Health Care Plan in place.
When referred under the Better Access to Mental Health Care scheme, Medicare eligible services are limited to 10 individual sessions per client, per calendar year, with a review by the referring practitioner required after the initial 6 sessions.
How do I claim the Medicare Rebate?
You will need to address the following points in order to claim the Medicare rebate:
- Book an appointment with your GP to get a Mental Health Care Plan: You will need to inform your GP regarding psychological issues that you are experiencing. They will develop a ‘Mental Health Care Plan’ which is your referral. Some GP clinics require a ‘double appointment’ so that they can allocate time to create the plan.
- Inform the GP of your choice to seek treatment from InPsync Psychology: In order for sessions with us to be claimed under Medicare, your Mental Health Care Plan must be addressed to your psychologist at InPsync Psychology.
- Give your Mental Health Care Plan to us: InPsync Psychology must receive the original or a copy of the Mental Health Care Plan in order for your sessions to be claimed under the Medicare system. You can bring it in person or have your GP fax or email the plan.
Private Health Insurance
Some health insurance funds offer rebates depending on your level of coverage. Contact your fund to find out your level of cover.
